One documentary was about North Korea. Kenny and I didn't know much about this place and now we know why.
They are under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, who allows reading materials only written by his father in his country. Other books aren't at all accessible, they have been banned from the country. Not just books, but nothing goes into North Korea; they totally sustain themselves (don't be impressed) which really means people are starving, have major health issues, and being tortured and killed for the smallest of discrepancies. Kim Jong Il is allowed to import, at one time he imported more Hennessy Cognac than anyone in the world, about $800,000 worth. Read more about how he spends his money here- http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/29/AR2006112900388.html
All citizens the are children start off in his schools that praise him and preach him as the only god. The entire country praises him for everything despite the fact that they live in poverty and are so oppressed they can't see straight. Can you imagine that? This American reporter goes in North Korea undercover pretending to tape his surgeries. The doctor is going to perform a basic surgery to get rid of cataracts in people of all ages. The people are anywhere from 10 to 60 and with the most basic of medicines the cataracts could have been avoided but because the ruler has the most primitive medicines available they are all blind. At the end of the documentary, it shows all the people taking their eye patches off and being able to see, the run to the front and praise the picture of Kim Jong Il. One man vowed to kill any American he saw, now that he could see he was going to pick up a gun and kill as many Americans as he could. How adorable. It was so disturbing. There was one man who escaped that had been in the military. Wanna know where he worked? Not exactly a base like Kenny, he worked at one of four active concentration camps located in North Korea. If someone is heard saying anything negative about Kim Jong Il they are sent to a prison camp. Not just them, but there entire family- parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins. Everybody. They are not given a reason as to why they are there but they are sent there to die. The escapee told National Geographic that they were not supposed to think of the prisoners as humans. It was so sad, these people who were not even allowed to own a cell phone, thought they had the best life, because they have all been brainwashed since they were born. If you want to see the documentary (and you should, knowledge is power!) it is...
so take a second a say a prayer for the people of North Korea and Kim Jong Il, declare psalm 9:9 over them,
The other documentary we watched was called Food Matters (Kenny's choice). It was about the importance of what we put in our body, as simple as the message sounds it was a wonderfully convicting documentary. The main message of it was how important vitamins are and how the food we are eating these days just isn't cutting it. The pesticides on fruit and veggies and growth hormones in milk are really hurting us. It talked about how important it was to eat organic even though it is expensive. We spend so much money on clothes, cars, everything to make us look good on the outside- how much more is it worth to make sure everything is working well on the inside? The answer is a lot more important. One guy they discussed was obese and they put him on a vitamin regimen and a vegetarian diet and he lost 150 pounds in a year...how? he pooped it all out! all the junk that is built up in our bodies we don't want to sweat it out of our skin, yuck! One day he lost 15 pounds and pooped 12 times. That is CRAZY!! Not that working out isn't great it just goes to show you that you have to do both, eating right and exercising, to be healthy! You should really watch this documentary too, it was so much information that I can't even begin to cover it all. I'll tell you one cool thing though- there was this man named Mr. Max Gerson who did some studies and proved that mega doses of vitamins and a vegetarian diet cured 50% of terminally ill patients (as opposed to the 7% that medicine cured). Our bodies after all are a temple of the Holy Spirit, we aren't supposed to be tired, run down, sickly and weak! We are supposed to be raising people from the dead and calling Heaven down to Earth. This means we have to start taking better care of what goes into our bodies to utilize our full potential. After the documentary Kenny and I rushed our vitamin deficient selves over to the vitamin cabinet where we just overdosed on all the different types of vitamins we had. (In retrospect- it wasn't the best idea, I was feeling a little, well a lot crummy, so take my advice, follow the directions on the back of the bottle). So, Kenny and I aren't total vegan, hippie, year round chaco wearers yet, but we did go to Whole Foods last night and get a bunch of organic goodies. After eating an extremely healthy dinner of omelets and organic apple cinnamon muffins we might have had a Cadberry egg and some Sweet Tarts and some M&Ms we got from Mrs. Bette in a Valentine's Day package! Obviously, we aren't quite there yet, but we are working on it!
After these two lessons are you convinced I should be a teacher?! I'm sorry to get up on my preaching pedestal but I am done now. All you Alabamians, if your ears aren't bleeding from Fergie's singing at the Super Bowl they should be burning, because Kenny and I have been talking about you. I am coming back to babysit and hopefully visit some on Saturday! I can't wait to see my fam! I miss them so much!
My sweet daughter In Love the blog is so very interesting sounds much like what Watchmen Nee said about his imprisonment. My dad served in WWII and said we haven't a clue how very lucky we are here with our freedoms and it can be taken in the blink of an eye and we won't even see it coming.

The people in Egypt send balloons with information up and over North Korea in hopes when they come down the people will know what is going on in the outside world. They only know what the government radio tells them ....so sad......and heartbreaking for their people.
