A double life week

This week has been out of this world cuh-razy. We have been house sitting for someone I am somehow related to. Her grandmother is my grandmother's sister. Her grandmother is my great Aunt Carole. Aunt Carole came to our wedding and Kenny and I both thought she was our Aunt Carole so we both tried to introduce her to each other. Awkward, but we were talking to so many people we only got to talk for maybe three minutes. BUT! She has sent us an anniversary card on the 18th for the past four months. Yes, we got one just this past Monday. Today we got an Easter card and an Easter gift, a devotional book for couples. I mean seriously, who has a great Aunt as thoughtful as mine?
Here is our package from Aunt Carole. She wrapped it up so tightly, every inch was covered in tape.

We have been taking care of their dog Kingston that they got from a shelter. He was beaten by a man so he is terrified of Kenny. Which made things... interesting. The first morning we got him out to play and he ran away so fast. (You see, we are used to Nelly who is by no means perfect but she follows our every step so we didn't even fathom that Kingston would do something different.) We spent 45 minutes trying to catch him but he was so scared he was in trouble with Kenny that he stayed far away. Eventually, Kenny had to go inside and I sat on the ground and played with Nelly, letting him see that I was in fact a dog lover and would not hurt him. Keep in mind it is pouring down rain. He eventually came to me, nothing short of a miracle. At one point I would have been less shocked if a pillar of fire came from the sky. But as the week went on he got a little more comfortable with Kenny. Here is Dr. Doolittle with both of the pups.

We have been thinking about getting another dog, not so much Kenny...but I have been wanting a friend for Nelly. Nelly loved playing with Kingston and would follow his every step. It was hilarious. After this week though we realized that training another dog is way to much responsibility for now. We are kind of in this phase of life where if we shun all forms of responsibility like the bubonic plague. No kids yet, no more animals, no nothing. Just us.

This week I worked four days instead of two. We played outside until the pollen had me sneezing every two seconds. Caleb's favorite thing to do is pick up some rocks from this drain and walk them to a bridge nearby and throw them in the water. As seen below.

He also loves to have pictures/videos taken of him doing various things. We picked these flowers for his mom but Caleb decided they were too pretty to pass up so he took them as his own.

And here is the little one, just sitting under the table. Don't worry I got him off the table as soon as I snapped a pic.

How do you tell a sweet boy looking for an adventure that he isn't going to catch a fish with a stick in stagnant water? I couldn't figure it out so we sat here for 30 minutes waiting on a big catch.

In the world of Kenny Byrd, he started a new job at work training the new guys that come to the Honor Guard. He is loving it but it keeps him at work later and takes away our sacred lunch breaks. Blah. ALSO, drum roll please....(and this is in civilian terms so readers can understand) the president obama/ head dude of the CG came to visit Kenny's base. Big deal. There was a base wide meeting and he gave out medals. Bigger deal. He gave some out to the HG for doing a good job last summer, and Kenny got one of those medals!!! (The things that decorate a military guys coat, that is what a medal is) and he got this legit piece of paper telling him how good he looked on the job. This doesn't happen often. So cool! I would take a picture but the medal is already on his coat! Here is a few pictures so you can get an idea of how good he looks on his jobs-

Sorry this blog is a novel! Stay tuned, big news coming your way soon!
