October is really the month of visiting and visitors, which is great, and I have been looking forward to it for quite some time. This weekend my friend Duh came to visit. Kenny was sick with the a cold and sinus infection for the majority of the week and home from work, but we still had lots of fun. Friday we went shopping with my friend Nicole for a dress for a Coast Guard ball the first weekend in November. We went to three different malls and didn't even try on one dress. Because there are no long, formal dresses in stores right now.
On Saturday we ventured into Georgetown because Duh had never been.
On the way we passed the Occupy DC protests.
And of course had to make a stop at Georgetown Cupcakes. It was early Saturday morning and there was no line yet, that was a first!
Then we ventured down the streets of Georgetown and came upon a Lululemon store. Only the coolest most awesome workout clothing line ever. I have never owned anything Lululemon, it is quite expensive. But yesterday my sweet husband changed that, and I got my first pair of pants! They are hemming them right now and I pick them up Wednesday!! Ladies, the miracles these pants can work on your hind quarters. I walked into the dressing room just plain ol' Mary Margaret Byrd. I walked out Jenny from the block. Seriously, I should have brought a pen for autographs. Just try them on, you will see.
The weather could not have been more perfect on Saturday. While Kenny tried to sleep off the infection, Duh and I sat on the porch painting our nails, just like old times. That night we had friends over to celebrate our friend Kris's birthday. His wife Nicole made a fabulous dinner and we ate apple crisp and pumpkin whoopies for dessert. All 11 of us then took a lap around our neighborhood like a bunch of up-to-no-good teenagers. Duh's flight left early this morning and Kenny and I came home and slept all day. I have now caught Kenny's (and the rest of the USCG Honorguard's cold) and he is out getting some Whole Food chicken soup because it has magical healing powers + Criminal Minds marathon and I should be like new by tomorrow morning.
Glad Duh had a great time with you and I love George Town too...
ReplyDeleteI can't come to DE with Claudia the last of Oct and I am sooo disappointed because I wanted to be well enough to come see you all. Hinky and I were going to try Thanksgiving but Dr. doesn't want me going out of town until they get my heart adjusted.....(that sounds like like fixing a TV or something...hummm) just not well enough to travel very far yet. I am getting stronger everyday ....
Hope Kenny and you get well soon and am praying for all of you....colds and sinus trouble are the PITS! Love momma Byrd
