Commandant's Ball!

(well for some reason Blogger insisted the picture of the Kelley couple be at the beginning of my blog. So without further adieu, here are our awesome and oh so sophisticated friends Brian and Brittany!! )
This weekend was the USCG Commandant's Ball in Alexandria. Over 800 members of the Coast Guard came to VA for the ball. It was a night of great people watching, good food, raffles, dancing, awesome friends and a performance from the Honor Guard Drill Team.

This Ball doesn't even compare to HG Ball last year. This year, I went dress shopping (FOR HOURS) with a girlfriend. Her husband is in the super cool Drill Team so she came over and we got ready together (a very rare occasion when you are married...and for one night Kenny didn't have to pretend he was interested in, or knew anything about, my eye shadow colors, lip glosses, and all things girly.)
To be able to sit at a table with friends who make you laugh and to act a fool on the dance floor is really something I took for granted until I moved here. It has been almost a year and we are just now feeling like this place is home. It is so bittersweet because one couple we are close to moves at the end of this month and another this winter. But while they are still here, we so enjoy them. Friends really are priceless!

My sweet friend Nicole!
Note: I stole this picture from Nicole; but it was the only one of all of us. And by all of us, I mean we are missing Kat and Zack, who was taking pictures. Kat was visiting home while Zack was the picture taker of the evening. Before every picture-"1, 2, 3, say cheese I miss my wife"

 after some dancing
Yes they are as funny as you think they are
Nicole and her hubby Kris looking all dashing (insert British tone on that last word)

It was a top notch night and very needed before we watched the Crimson Tide throw away a victory against LSU the next day. Oh well, life certainly goes on.

That is all for now,
MMB
