The birthday boy and little Nelly.
Nelly really does sit right here when Ken is on the sofa. After a few minutes of being ignored, she starts sliding down to his shoulders and curling around his neck like a little snake. Hilarious.
Yesterday before we got 6 inches of snow, we took dinner to some friends, Ryan and Casey, who just had a sweet, healthy baby girl, Kylee. We took them some Poppyseed Chicken Casserole (as seen below) and some Mississippi Mud Brownies. Seeing that I want all the readers of this blog to live a long life without clogging their arteries I will tell you my mom's recipe for the poppyseed chicken. It is delicious, and warm, and just hits the spot. So please, you have to try it.
go on to Wal-Mart and get you some:
4 cups cooked chopped chicken
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 (16oz) container sour cream
1 1/2 c. shredded sharp cheese
3T poppy seeds
1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crushed
1/4 c. butter, melted
So easy...ready?
Preheat oven to 350. Combine first 6 ingredients in a large bowl and stir. Spoon into a lightly greased 11x7" baking dish. Top with crushed crackers and drizzle with melted butter. Bake uncovered for 35-30 minutes or until bubbly. It serves six hungry bellies.
yummy casserole
When we drove home from delivering the food it was snowing like crazy. Yes, Alexandria was a snow globe last night. All the schools and businesses were closed early and Kenny even got to come home early. We took Nelly out and played in the snow and had so much fun! We usually get out in the half inch of snow and play in Alabama. It was so fun here to be able to really play!
Poor Nelly, we took a picture of her going number two in the snow. Props to you Nelly, it was freezing cold. But don't focus on that, look at the winter wonderland around her!
A snow plow came through and shoveled snow so cars could drive, I have only seen snow like this in movies.
Kenny took a quick picture on accident while trying to put the camera in his pocket, but I thought it was cool and blog-worthy. A cross, thank you Jesus for the snow!
I don't know if you all knew this but I married the Outdoors Gear King. I mean everything outdoorsy, including but not limited to, Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, anything Mountain High, REI, from carabiners, nalgeens, chacos, to solomon shoes in every color, this is just what Kenny loves. I wish I could show you the North face bag full of camping equipment, backpacks, etc. under our bed. (NOt to mention the surfboards on our deck.) He is the best dressed guy in the world (and the people's choice for Best Dressed of Ariton High School, Class of 2004). All this to say, here is Kenny in the picture above with his Arcteryx jacket and hat. And there I am in my new jacket; we've only been married a month and I already have something Arcteryx. Thank you to my mountain man husband :)
Nelly the snow dog!
At the end of the day Nelly still runs the household. The snow wore her out and here she is all shweeeeeet and cuddled up, not wanting to take pictures, oh well!
That is all for now! Blessings to you in this chilly weather!
Casey had her little baby girl. I bet she is so darling. It was so nice of you to take them that delicious looking food. I know they so appreciated it + it looked very yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love the snow pictures and Nelly is such a trooper just being able to poo in the snow. Boy that would be a cold experience.
WOW it just doesn't seem like Kenny was born 25 years ago. I remember the exact second he was born. What a wonderful baby! Happy Birthday Kenny!!! You will alway bring bright light to our lives.
Ok I need to meet Nelley. She sounds soo cute. I can just see her sliding down the couch and curling around his neck.. ha that's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteDo they really keep water in the pool in winter? crazy. You'll live there this summer though, and get a sweet tan!
Will you make me that stuff when our baby arrives? ;-) Especially the brownies!!!
Marge, I love the post! Miss Nell Bell reminds me of Minnie & Buck. They used to sit on the back of the couch, sleep under the covers, beg for attention, etc. You have to love daschunds!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that recipe! It looks SO yummy!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think Nelly needs a sweet winter coat like mom and dad so she doesn't get chilled while doing her #2's in snow deeper than her! haha
