Early this week one of Kenny's dreams came true. Our copper pot from Williams- Sonoma came in the mail. I say 'our' pot because that is how you talk when you are married, BUT in reality this is Kenny's pot. He uses it every chance he gets and sings his praises of how superior it is to any other pot. After he uses it, he cleans it like he is cleaning brass during Honor Guard training. So, as of now 'we' are copper pot collectors.

On Sunday, we visited DC Metro church. It is in Old Town Alexandria, which is always fun to drive through because it is so pretty. (Technically, the roads are super small and crowded, the drivers are all mad at you, and the street signs are so confusing BUT to be a passenger is wonderful.) DC Metro is an ARC church plant so it was almost identical to Church of the Highlands. The couple behind us was from Alabama too so that was neat. Afterwards we went to a place called Table Talk to eat- as seen below. We were starving because we normally like to fill ourselves up on about a 1000 calorie breakfast on weekends, but the breakfast of champions was cut so we could make it to church on time.
Old Town
Kenny and his pancakes, toasts, eggs and plate of butter. I told you we were famished.
OH HERE IS THE PART OF THE BLOG YOU DONT WANT TO MISS!!!! my most wonderful and sweet husband spent his MLK day taking me to IKEA to look for a coffee table and a desk chair! I have always wanted to go here, I have heard so many awesome things, and sure enough it was everything I was hoping for and more!! We got a coffee table, a desk chair, a cushion for the chair, 7 big picture frames and a bathroom counter toiletry stacking thing-a-ma-jig for $200! If you know me at all, you know I am not the bargain hunter, but today I was! And it was awesome! After we loaded the car, I looked at Kenny feeling super accomplished and said, "That was so fun, wasn't it?" Kenny's response"I mean as much fun as you can have getting a coffee table, yeah." Such a man. Sweet and precious man that is.
This picture really does not do it justice but there is no way to capture that much insanity in a picture, you just have to go for yourself!
The recipe for today isn't one of sustenance but it does get a solid 10 for deliciousness. Technically, it is the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks made by yours truly, a barista extraordinaire. I introduced Kenny to this drink a couple weeks ago and we have been craving it ever since. So, instead of spending the majority of the coast guard paycheck on coffee, we made it ourselves and it is just as delicious! All we did was make some instant hot chocolate using the package of powder and hot water. cover it with whipped cream, caramel and a pinch of salt. It is so good because it hits your salty AND sweet craving. Can I hear a good amen?
i know what your thinking- how cute are those coffee cups, right?! kenny loves to drink out of them so they are never clean! thank you nancyjane! you know us so well!
Another week has rolled around and Kenneth is back at work! It snowed last night and the roads were icy and driving conditions were not safe at all. Being the Alabamians that we are, we were sure his work would be cancelled. Au contraire, got a message from his boss telling him he has to be there and if he needs to sleep on base so he can make his job in the morning, so be it!
"Nelly, something tells me we're not in Alabama anymore."
Now let me ask you this.... how many people do you know who have a husband who comes home from work for lunch looking as sharp and as handsome as this?! Hallelujah! Today marks one month of being married for us and it has been the best month of my life. I love getting to know Kenny and enjoy him and love him and laugh with him. He is my best friend and I love doing life with him, he makes everything so fun!
I have officially putting off working out as long as I can. I must go now, if I haven't blogged in a couple of days, you should be worried about me. It more than likely means the tread mill has killed me.
Hey MM. I love your blogs and I love you and Kenny. It is so neat to see the two of you and what you are doing. Thanks for keeping us close to you this way. Mom
