Before you read any further, go to youtube or maybe your iTunes library and play Empire State of Mind, it'll really make this post come alive. As I write this post about our trip to New York I will admit to you I am having major Post traumatic NYC depression. We had the BEST time this weekend; I really didn't want it to end.
We started our trip around 12:30 and it took 7 hours to get there. Thank you traffic. But we even had fun just sitting in the car together. Once we got into the city I was navigating, Kenny was driving and Kitty was hanging out the window taking pictures and screaming, literally screaming at everything we passed. Many small miracles and wrong turns later, we checked into our hotel that was in Times Square. So cool! So we walked around for a little bit but before long we were starving.
So, we went to this little American Diner place where my husband and sister shamelessly mocked me for thinking this dessert tray was real. They laughed all throughout dinner; come to find out it was real. Boom. (We ate two pieces of chocolate cake. It was so rich that Kitty and I had to tap out early. Don't worry Kenny jumped right in and finished both. It was a lot like that scene from Matilda where Bruce has to eat a whole chocolate cake. He is sick of it but once you start cheering him on he catches his second wind and finishes it. You can do it Bruce Kenny! )
Then we walked our full selves to the Rockefeller Center. It was like a winter wonderland.
I will admit I had my first round of baby fever in the baby clothes section of FAO. And with the shrill screams of a baby's temper tantrum I rationalized that I liked the cute clothes not so much the idea of a child.

Nex stop: Tiffanys. 5 floors of diamonds. No food we ate that weekend made me drool like sparkly, gigantic and outlandish necklaces, rings, everything really.

Only my sister would think to take pictures to document a taxi ride. Next stop: Little Italy/Soho. We ate the most delicious Italian food. Best meal all weekend.
St. Paul's chapel where people stayed after 9/11

Then we headed to Century 21. It's like a TJ Maxx on steroids. 5 floors of everything you could ever imagine. It was packed and super overwhelming but we did manage to walk away with a few good deals. At this point the ice is so bad we are slipping and can't walk fast and somehow the snow is falling in a way that hits you directly in the eyes so you can't really open your eyes. So, we went back to the hotel for a little nap and to get ready for the night. We were hungry but wanted to eat somewhere super close so we didn't have to walk far. So, Mexican it was. Then, it was the moment of truth...Wicked. Oh my gosh I was like a little kid on Christmas. I was shrieking like a teenager and smiling ear to ear the whole night.
Let me just take a second to tell you how great my husband is: despite the fact that he drove us there, parked the cars while we got ready, carried our heavy bags, and navigated us through the city making sure we hit everything on Kitty's list he also went and got us Wicked tickets. They were last minute tickets so there were not three seats together. So, he sat by himself and let Kitty and I revel in this awesome, glorious, night for two obsessed Wicked fans. Even bought me a Wicked coffee cup and a bag. Not to mention sat through a musical. He is. the. bomb.
We finished the night with some Carnegie's famous cheesecake delivered to our hotel. It was an action packed, tiring, thrilling, and perfect weekend. That night we got to bed around 1 and woke up at 5 to get to the airport for her early morning flight. Then Sunday we slept all dang day, of course. Top notch weekend. Hated to see it end.
IT ALL LOOKED JUST THRILLING AND SOOOO EXCITING GLAD YOU ALL COULD BE TOGETHER FOR SUCH FUN.....LOVE YOU ALL ....MS. BETTE
