Another room is done!

The second room that has been completed this week is Kenny's office. No, he doesn't just come home with loads of paper work and stuff to do at a desk but it is a space all his own, a man cave of sorts. (Side note: When you hear man cave you think of men watching football on some big TV and smoking cigars or eating Cheetos. Kenny mostly sits at his desk and reads quietly.) So, without further adieu, here it goes.
Before: (And I kind of cheated on this picture, we had started rippin' the room apart so his desk wasn't this messy and he had a lamp on it, but Nelly does sleep under there at night and there was no chair, so you get the idea.  We found this desk out on the street for trash day and we took it as our own. From day one Kenny had plans to paint it, but life just got in the way, until now.
Kenny holding up the picture I had already taken off the wall.
On this sad wall was this sailboat picture that Kenny made. Pretty picture, not so pretty way of hanging it.

So, Chaco and I set out to make the picture pop.  As, you can tell, he did most of the work.

And here is the finished product! What do you think??
We stained his papasan chair the same stain that the shelf is, and plan on replacing this chair with a leather chair in the not so immediate future.
Kenny made this shelf out of crown molding and then stained it. It is an awesome way to store his 123948723948279 million hats.  This little doo-dah is hanging to the right of the desk.
Here is a closer up of the desk. We got a new lamp and a desk chair, and you got yourself a fully functioning office!

We distressed it, like we do most of our projects. And we replaced the orange-ish rope handles with some manly leather.
And here is the desk chair we got from some Craig's List sketch. No she wasn't sketchy at all. but it is just so weird to me how strangers meet and sell their old stuff, and potentially get killed if you have seen the Lifetime movie. Annnnyway, Kenny knew from day one he wanted an antique wooden chair. The picture makes it look tiny, but I think it is just the angle.
The problem with these kinds of chairs is the were selling in stores and on the internet for about $700. Don't choke on your coffee. Yes, I know. But this one was $40 for this 70 year old, smelling like my grandma kind of antique. Kenny was thrilled and it really is more comfortable than it looks. Leans back and what nots. So, there you have it.

Two rooms down! All in one week! Now to get ready for our Easter celebration! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to stock pile on the Cadbury eggs this weekend, you will need enough to last until next year!
