A Perfect Week

It has been a very eventful two weeks. We left home for Alabama on the 12th and just got back last night. We went to Ozark to see Kenny's parents and his brother, Rob. It was the first time since the wedding that we had seen him so it was quite the treat to be able to hang out with him without wedding craziness going on. We also went to the midnight premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in Dothan, Alabama. Nothing is open in Dothan past 9 and we ate dinner around seven that night so by midnight we were ready for fourth meal. That is right, Taco Bell. Kenny Byrd's first time to ever eat Taco Bell, can you believe it?! And he is lying if he tells you he didn't enjoy it, he ate it right up! The movie was awesome. Kenny had seen 2 of the movies, not read the books or seen most of the movies. By the premier he had seen all the movies and had wikipedia-ed Harry Potter summaries so he could be fully caught up. The things you do for love!! The next day we headed to the beach!! In the torrential rain. It was supposed to rain all week; we were so bummed. Then we pulled up to this beach house, and we were no longer bummed. It was the coolest house we have ever stayed in and we were like kids in a candy shop going crazy over it!

However, the rain did not slow us down at all. The first day it sprinkled a little bit and the family played volleyball for hours. We were all so sore the next day.  We decided to take Kenny's surfboard out the first day. Big mistake. As you can see there wasn't a single wave. It is also a good time to tell you about my slightly awkward, very real fear of the ocean floor. I absolutely hate the creepies that swim around in the ocean. I usuall got on a float and have one of my brothers or dad pull me around. Luckily for them, when I got married that responsibility got passed to Kenny. On our honeymoon we went in the ocean and I had never told him about my fear. I was just screaming and trying to get on his back. He thought it was hilarious. It was not. So, he was prepared this trip, and thought he should help me overcome my fear. How you might ask? By refusing to carry me in the ocean. It was horrible. So, I think I went out in the ocean one more time with Luke, but it was just as miserable. Love the beach.  Love the ocean. HATE the ocean floor.
See look at that sunshine! The sun was out and strong for the rest of the week. We spent lots of time at the pool avoiding little screaming kids, playing games, and just hanging out. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to be with the fam for a week! We went into Seaside for some Dawsons yogurt, Modica Market for groceries, grits a yaya at Great Southern, lunch at Bud and Alleys, relived the moment where my mom saved Jake from choking on a hot dog outside of Bud and Alleys, rode bikes, swam, slept, went to Pure Barre in the mornings with mom, needless to say I stayed sore, ate too much, went on a date to Cafe 30-A, got matching dachshund Seaside hats with Kenny, learned to surf, rented a metal detector to look for Kenny's wedding band in the sand, never found it, played cards, played board games, went outlet mall shopping, and of course enjoyed some tennis and after all of that we had my brother's wedding at the beach house.,

I mean look at that sunset, it relaxes me just to look at it. How great is our God?

Our family just keeps getting bigger!

One thing about being home, my sister carries her camera with her everywhere, so Kenny and I end up with tons of pictures of us. Why not have a little MM&K photo shoot before the rehearsal dinner?

The rehearsal dinner was small and intimate and the food was delish and it was wonderful.

And the wedding...

the last picture is a little dark, but I think it is a great picture of Luke. Plus, look at the cupcakes. They were out of this world good.

Here is my growing family. This is for sure the last wedding for a while though. Which is good, another one might have put my mom in her grave!! Not really, she did a wonderful job putting on two weddings in less than a year! I know everyone probably feels this way, but I really do have the best family in the world. They are just so much fun to be around. I laughed so much this week. It was just really wonderful.

Back in Virginia, Kenny and I are horribly suffering from post beach depression. It is hard to be sad because the week was absolutely wonderful but at the same time we sure do miss it! Who knows, maybe in a year the CG will have us moving to Destin, FL. How cool would that be!
