Naner Pudding

I realized today that I haven't posted a recipe in a while, so today while I was making some Banana Pudding I decided to document it. There is a (super embarrassing) reason that I decided to make this. You see, Sunday night after small group we all ate dinner together. Kenny and I got a solo cup full of banana pudding to share. Well, everyone has that one fruit of the spirit that is just a foreign language to them... and mine is self control. I gulped down the entire cup without even thinking; and, like a dutiful wife I went and filled it back up so Kenny could eat round 2. Well, Kenny took a little too long eat his dinner and I ate the second cup too! I was sick. I hurried my sugar high self into the kitchen for round 3 and the dish was wiped clean. Gone. I scraped out no more than two little bites into the cup and returned defeated with a practically empty cup. Kenny just laughed, but it put a hankering for some banana pudding in his mind and taste buds. So, today I took my banana pudding behind down to Wal-Mart to get everything I needed. Which is, for your convenience, everything you see in this picture.

For this recipe I had to get a mixer/use one for the first time; I was a little skeptical about how it would turn out. Sure, there is a little cream cheese on a few of the cabinets, but overall- a success. Unfortunately, the blending was a little too loud for Nelly's comfort level so she retreated to her hiding place.

I got the recipe from allrecipes.com. I am a sucker for how many people like and rate a recipe. Over 32,000 people liked it, so I figured it was the best. Here it is, copy and pasted below. My comments are in the different font!

Ingredients

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 4 bananas, sliced (I only used 2)
  • 1/2 (12 ounce) package vanilla wafers

Directions

1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy. Beat in condensed milk, pudding mix, cold milk and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 1/2 of the whipped topping.

Folding? Seriously? That is what I do to laundry, so i just dumped it in there, still a little frozen. Not the best idea fellow chefs, it got stuck in the mixer and was a quite messy. So, google what 'folding' is before you take on this recipe.

 2. Line the bottom of a 9x13 inch dish with vanilla wafers. Arrange sliced bananas evenly over wafers. Spread with pudding mixture.
I was chatting away with my mom at this point of the recipe, luckily this was quite the easy step.

Top with remaining whipped topping. Chill.
I also topped mine with a little message reminding Ken (because, let's be honest, he probably forgot) that he is so much more important than some naner pudding! Chill, yes that is what I am doing now sitting at the computer, Nelly on lap and drinking a smoothie. Oh, and the desert is chilling too in the fridge.

Tomorrow Kenny's mom is coming to visit! We have a fun weekend ahead of us!!
Thank you for reading!
