A Holly Jolly Christmas

Christmas came and went so fast this year. A week at home flew by and here we are in the bitter cold of January. Christmas decor is down and I can't escape the 24/7 chill bumps that the Virginia winter brings. What can I say? I am a warm weather girl.
That being said, I am also a celebrator of all things Christmas. We had a wonderful time back home. It started off with a visit from the Cooke family and the Wood family. Carly and Jake have the same birthday so we had a little celebration and went to the Church of the Highlands Christmas Eve service together.

I've known Carl my whole life. Our moms have been best friends since childhood. Brian and Kenny became friends back in college. So really they are perfect couple friends for us because we were all friends before any of us were married. Carl and Brian begged me to date Kenny for at least five years. Funny how things work out. It stinks we live so far apart. One day hopefully we will live in the same city. A girl can dream!

The next day was Christmas Eve and we did what only children of the man in charge of the Highlands parking team would do. We put on our neon vests and reindeer ears and parked cars and drove golf carts at the Christmas Eve service.
Then came Christmas. You know you and your siblings are old when no one wants to wake up to open presents before 10. We ate our traditional morning cinnamon rolls and just enjoyed each other for the day.

The next morning was the annual Dorr family Christmas Bowl. The boys and some of the girls played football for a couple of hours. The Leduc family joined us for some foosball and we got to spend an evening with them eating pizza, drinking hot chocolate and taking pictures of the Christmas lights outside. Their two girls Selah and Ansley were the flower girls in our wedding. I could not get over how much they have grown in just one year!
The next item on the agenda was Julia getting her wisdom teeth out. The first day she had friends over and was her usual self. The next morning while my mom and I were walking the dogs she got a call from Jake saying Julia had fainted. Ah, the joys of having your wisdom teeth out.
Luckily she wore this convenient little head gear-ice pack contraption and didn't swell or bruise.

Mom finally got a coffee table for the living room. Only took 15 years. It was a Christmas miracle. Chrimacle, if you will.

Then the week ended with a celebration of my mom's birthday! Doesn't she look great for 52?!

And the last of the Dorr family Christmas-ish traditions-
We like to burn our Christmas tree (and raid other people's trash and burn their tree too). We put them in the center of our cul-de-sac and watch it burn. So much cheaper than fireworks. And way cooler.

Then there was the usual Pure Barre classes, unusually warm weather for dog walks, trips to all our favorite places to eat, Tim Hawkins comedy videos, and a super fun night at Chuy's with the siblings.
'Twas a top notch Christmas.
