Needtobreathe weekend

This weekend started off like weekends have been starting off around here recently. Working. We woke up early and spent a few hours in the yard, walked the dogs, cleaned up a little bit. And then we realized we were so tired, so we decided to take it easy. Kenny was craving hamburgers so we went to the store and this is what we left with.

Steaks and peanuts. Nothing like some boiled peanuts. Then I used my mint leaves from my garden to make some mojitos. Delicious. D-Lish if you will.
Then being all Martha Stewart I used the cilantro from my garden to make salsa. I had never made it before and my friends make it all the time like it is no big deal. Well its just a never ending pile of things you need to chop. So, if you need to practice chopping for some reason, make a few servings of salsa.

The never ending salsa process was made a little less monotonous by the one and only Taylor Swift and her Speak Now concert DVD.

A much needed restful Saturday. Pretty boring eh?
Sunday was dreary and raining and freezing, so it was more of the same lounging around and watching movies.
Until nightfall.
We went to Zoe's for dinner in Arlington and then headed into DC for the Needtobreathe concert. Ben Rector opened for him, he was delightful. I might have enjoyed his music and performance more than Needtobreathe. He was just that great.

It was a great concert. They played old and new stuff and it reminded me of summer nights at Zach Haedt's lake house with great friends. The concert ended around 11 and by midnight Kenny was asleep only to wake up at 5 this morning. Going to sleep at midnight used to be an everyday thing. And waking up at nine this morning I felt like an 18 wheeler had run me over in my sleep. Aren't I too young for this?? I am afraid the sad truth is no. Any day I expect my hair to start graying and and slowly but surely I'll have to blend all our food into mush. But for now I will just head to the coffee pot for one more cup before I get this Monday rolling.

Hope you had a great weekend! Hurry up Friday!
