This weekend proved to be pretty stinkin' anti climatic; but we still had a blast. Friday night we went to the grocery store for a few things. It was a mad house. The water aisle-emptied, like a scene from a Western movie with the tumbleweed rolling across. People were duct taping their windows and freaking out like it was the end of the world. We were not quite there, but we did put the grill in the shed. On Friday night we went to Macaroni Grill and then over to our friends house for a hurricane party. They were about as worried as we were, so that was nice. It is always a great time with our awesome friends.
Saturday we lounged on the sofa almost the entire day. We got up once to make some cinnamon pop tarts and once because we were going a little crazy inside and went on an adventure. Other than that, this picture pretty much sums up the day.
This is the before picture for our adventure. Nelly loved the rain and puddles; Chaco not so much. We ended up just being able to walk to this close by bridge- Chaco was in the early stages of hypothermia and the wind was crazy.
When we got home we had to bathe them, they were disgusting! But before their bath we snapped an after picture. You can't really tell how wet we got unless you look at Nelly, who looks like a little drowned rat.
The storm was supposed to really pick up at night and it really did. We got quite a few inches of rain but Sunday morning you would not know it. It was so sunny and pretty and even dry so we decided to spend the day outside. We played tennis, walked the dogs along the river, went to a farmer's market and got a bunch of fresh fruit and of course did a little damage control from Irene. This aftermath picture is pretty intense, so prepare yourself.
I know. Can you believe that HUGE branch fell down. I mean what if it had hit the house.
Luckily, we have a live-in branch removal service.
And yes, the porch had to be swept. So this week we survived a hurricane and our first earthquake.
Also, something completely random but I forgot to blog about it a few weeks back, I think. I really can't remember. So, if you are seeing this for a second time, my apologies. We got new bedding! We got a bed for our guest room and needed bedding for it so we decided to put the green bedding on it and get something, I don't know, a little more white for us. Kenny's idea- I promise! But I certainly didn't disagree. It is from Anthropologie. They have the best bedding. The only problem is that investing in it is just a small financial step down from sending a child to college. So, as you can see we only have one euro sham, more will come but we decided food over the other two shams this month.
Our room sure has come a long way. Not only have we moved but everything in our house has changed. So much can happen in just a little under a year. Life sure is an adventure with Kenny Byrd.
Hey, we have the same blog title! Well almost the same. We rule.
