One Day Weekend

This weekend was just about as awesome as a one day weekend can be. Friday night we had friends over and ate Mexican food and just had a blast. It is so good to finally be getting in the swing of things with people we really enjoy being with. I'll have to take pictures with my new friends so you guys can see that I'm not just making these people up!
Saturday Kenneth woke up bright and early for duty. Yuck! So naturally, I rolled around on the sofa all day only getting up to bake and eat mass quantities of pity party food. I found these homemade pop tarts on a random blog last week and thought I would make them for Sunday morning when Kenny was home as a little treat. Because let's be honest- who doesn't love a good pop tart? They were these healthy little guys with whole wheat flour and what nots.... so of course, they didn't taste like the clog your arteries goodness of a legit Pop Tart.  I was a little bummed; but that did not stop me from eating three that night. No. Self. Control.
So, if you are craving Pop tarts, rush to the grocery store. If you are feeling something healthy that resembles a fruity pastry-ish taste, get out your roller.
Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup melted butter
1 cup plain yogurt
About 5 ounces of 100% fruit jelly or jam – any flavor you like!
1. Mix the first four ingredients. Roll the dough out and mark arm workout off your list of things to do as well.
2. Cram as much jelly as possible on your little fake pop tart. (The actual recipe says like a teaspoon, if you are into following rules. If you are into a juicy, fruiter taste-cram.)
3. Put another piece on top of the jelly covered piece and press the edges down with a fork. Put them in the oven at 350 for 25 minutes.

I found another recipe that doesn't involve whole wheat flour but does involve sugar and a cinnamon filling. So maybe I will try those out next. But, Kenny scarfed these down and so did I, so give them a whirl.
And lastly, on our wonderful Sunday we slept til almost noon. Headed out to the pool to soak up some sun. Stopped by the gas station where we heard a base-wide alert for severe weather. Yes, the sky was dark and looked like torrential rains were in our immediate future but we figured the pool was ten whole minutes away and was sunny as a day in Destin, FL. But, after the warning we skipped out on the pool and headed to Ulta. I told Kenny a while ago I wanted this OPI nail polish color so we ventured out amidst the horrible weather.
After dipped cones from DQ we went to Home Depot to get lots of supplies for my new project. I can't WAIT to share it with you, not that I have started or anything but I have a good feeling about this one. Annnnywho. After a day of healthy eating and eating an early, small dinner I was starving after Home Depot. Kenny was too. It is at this point in the story that I must tell you something about us. Inside both of us is this alway hungry for the worst foods obese monster. Kenny's looks a little something like this

and mine looks almost exactly like this-

(You might recognize them as famous movie characters but they were created with the thought of our food monsters inside of us, talk about an awesome claim to fame huh?)

Anywho, we usually work well together and when one of us are craving something awful the other can talk us out of it. It works about 99% of the time. Yesterday was the 1%. Of all the places to eat, we went to CiCi's pizza. We both hadn't been there in at least ten years and were like kids in the candy shop. We stuffed our faces to the point we both got the feeling people were staring at us. But I can't blame them, I would start too if I saw these two creatures above eating at the local CiCi's. We did not regret the decision to consume 6,000 calories worth of pizza immediately, but we were on a sugar high. And still are. It's been a solid twelve hours and I freaking love CiCi's.

Happy Monday!
