Well, my plan to be outside planting mums and maybe carving a pumpkin or two was foiled by large amounts of rain. So, instead I did a little Fall decorating inside. I'll be honest with you, I can't stand Halloween decor. I hate scary things, so pretty much anything related to Halloween puts me in a foul mood. I guess it all goes back to JC's Haunted House when I was in middle school. My dad told all the zombie people my name so we walked through the entire house with all those scary, freaky people right next to me and touching me saying my name. He got a good laugh about it, I still have to get him back for that one. All that to say, pumpkins and maybe a vase full of candy corn is where I draw the line for Halloween decorating.
Last night Chef Kenny came home from work with bags full of groceries with plans to make a little treat. He got to work right away and made this yummy blackberry cobbler with mint chocolate chip ice cream and whipped cream. It was so yummy!!
It is so funny to think that the last time we ate this dessert we were in California with lots of teenagers coaching Challenge together. Sometimes it is funny to think that I married the guy who would ask me about what girls to date and would always tell me what I didn't want to hear about guys I liked. I never in my wildest dreams would have thought two years later we would be in our home as husband and wife making the dessert we loved from Challenge. It is little things like this that remind of how the Lord is always orchestrating something in our life and that His plan is not our own. Praise the Lord that His ways are higher!
AMEN to that and I love your fall decor......We've never been much into Halloween either as Kenny and Rob both can tell you we never had even one trick or treater come down into the wooded area here not in 28 years did we have even ONE! They probably heard I made blueberry muffins to give out to treaters and if they came fine ...and if they didn't we ate them ourselves....Yummmmm ....
ReplyDeleteOnce for several years Kenny we would take Kenny the Dothan Mall where each store would give the children candy then we would come home and dive in to the candy I ways tried to steal his little packages of candy corn and peanut-butter cups but he was pretty protective...hahahah
Have a beautiful FALL!!!!!! MOMMA Byrd
